Melamine Faced Doors

Melamine-faced doors are a popular choice in the door manufacturing industry due to their cost-effectiveness and practical advantages. Melamine, an organic compound used in plastics production, is combined with formaldehyde to create a sturdy material when heated. This compound, containing 66% nitrogen by mass, decomposes at 345°C and is soluble in water. Melamine-faced panels are crafted by bonding melamine onto Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) boards using heat and pressure, forming the basis for melamine-faced door production. These panels come in various colors and patterns.

The construction of melamine-faced door leaves involves several components. Finger-joint wood spars, made from spruce or fir tree, form the door's main frame. These spars, 42 mm wide and 35 mm thick, have a moisture content stabilized at 10-14%. Additional spars reinforce handle, lock, and hinge points. Honeycomb Kraft paper filling ensures high pressure resistance, thermal insulation, and lightweight properties.

To create the door surface, 4 mm thick MDF panels are glued to the main frame on both sides using a pressing machine. This process results in a door leaf thickness of 43 mm (4 mm + 35 mm + 4 mm = 43 mm). The door then undergoes various procedures, including edge cutting and banding, hole drilling for handles, locks, and hinges, as well as cleaning and packing. Standard melamine-faced door leaves measure 87 cm wide and 209 cm high, but they can be customized to fit different door dimensions, including double-leaf doors.

Melamine-faced doors offer numerous advantages. They are easy to clean, hygienic, and highly decorative, accurately replicating the appearance of real wood. Additionally, they boast superior resistance to impact, scratches, and UV rays when compared to other door types. Their durability, easy installation, and affordability make them a practical and aesthetic choice for various door applications.
